T Mobile Mobile Broadband

Deciding on a mobile network provider can be a difficult task due to the fact that there are so many to choose from. The decision is made even harder with the different deals, promotions and plans that are on offer that have the tendency to change month by month. When making a decision on what UK network to subscribe to, it is advised that you consider things such as coverage, network infrastructure, and technical support. One of the major factors to consider is coverage. In general urban signal availability is good in the UK. However some network providers suffer from bad coverage in certain areas, making it difficult to get a good signal. Some networks have a better reputation than others, and T – Mobile is one of them.

T – Mobile was the world’s first GSM 1800 mobile network. It was first known as Mercury One2One and operated by the now extinct Mercury Communications. Purchased in 1999 by DT, the name was then changed to One2One, and in 2002 it was rebranded as T – Mobile.

The T – Mobile network offers a variety of deals, including pay monthly, and pay as you go deals, giving everyone regardless of income status access to their services. The pay monthly contract offers set minutes and flexible boosters, allowing the customer to make changes on a month to month basis, dependant on their needs. In August 2003 the 3G UMTS service was launched by T – Mobile.

At the end of 2007 the merger of the high speed 3G and HSDPA was confirmed, and it would was to be operated by T – Mobile and the 3 network. The merger took place at the beginning of 2008, and made T – Mobile and 3 the largest HSDPA mobile phone network in England.

T – Mobile’s parent, France Telecom’s DT and Orange announced plans to merge with UK operators in 2009. The merger would create the largest mobile operator worldwide. The Merger was approved by the European Commission in March 2010. Conditions for approval were based on the combined company selling 25% of its acquired spectrum on the 1800 MHz radio band, and make changes to a shared network agreement with its rival 3. The following month saw a completion of the merger and a new name, “Everything Everywhere”. Orange and T – Mobile were now run by the new company and were both to continue as separate brands for a minimum of 18 months.

The T – Mobile network is also used as the supporting network behind the virtual network of Virgin mobile.
